Sun and family: habits to adopt for a peaceful summer
Summer means outings, walks, picnics, swimming... and of course, sunshine. While its benefits for morale are undeniable, sun exposure requires special attention, especially when you're with your family: pregnant women, babies, young children all have more sensitive skin.
At Monjour, we love the simple pleasures of summer, but always with gentleness, care and kindness.
Here are our tips for enjoying the sun safely .
Apply suitable sun protection (and often!)
It's the basis, but you still have to choose it well... and apply it well.
For children:
-
Choose an SPF 50+ index.
-
Choose a fragrance-free texture formulated for sensitive skin.
-
Renew every 2 hours, and after each swim.
For pregnant women:

-
The skin is more fragile and more prone to pregnancy mask (or melasma).
-
Choose mineral protection , without controversial chemical filters.
-
Think about sensitive areas : lips, ears, scars, moles... a sunscreen stick is the perfect ally.
The Monjour reflex : our ultra-targeted SPF 50+ sun stick, to slip into your pocket for touch-ups throughout the day.
Cover up without overheating
Clothing is the best protection . In addition to sunscreen, adopt:
-
a wide-brimmed hat or cap with neck protection,
-
category 3 or 4 sunglasses , with UV filter,
-
light clothing, long-sleeved if possible, in cotton or linen.
For babies, choose anti-UV suits for the beach or swimming pool.
Avoid the hottest hours
The sun is at its zenith between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. This is also the time when UV rays are most aggressive. During this time slot:
-
Stay in the shade (umbrella, tree, tent),
-
Prefer quiet indoor activities,
-
Take a refreshing break : reading, napping, playing quietly...
Gentle tip: For children, prepare a small spray of fresh water with 1 drop of chamomile floral water. Soothing and comforting.
Drink, drink, drink!
It cannot be repeated enough, but sun exposure accelerates dehydration , especially in young people and pregnant women. Remember to:
-
offer water very regularly (even when not thirsty),
-
vary with fruits rich in water (watermelon, melon, cucumber),
-
avoid very sugary sodas and juices, which dehydrate more.
And for babies?
-
No direct sunlight before 6 months .
-
Always place baby in the shade , with a hat and covering clothes.
-
If exposure is unavoidable (walking, car, etc.), a special baby mineral cream can be applied occasionally to uncovered areas (face, hands).
Enjoy the sun with your family, without compromise
The sun can be an ally for morale and vitamin D... provided you go about it with moderation and caution .
